After a moving day in Gnosjö, the following day we were entertained by pupils in Kulltorpsskolan, Kulltorp. We heard about their frog adventure stories, shared Fika in the forest behind the school, and made plans with their energetic teacher, Majsan, to write like crazy to get a booklet of stories published by Kultiver a. Young Writers lab will be back to Kulltorp very soon.
Young Writers Lab has been out on the road in the last few days. We had an exciting time in Gnosjö where we met Grade 1 pupils in Gnosjöandans Kunskapcentrum. They were offered a range of writing prompts and wrote stories about journeys and places special to them. The class was silent as I read from one pupil’s account “When we are born we expect to hear the sound of our parents, when I was born it was to the sound of gunfire”. We did know each other a little bit before travelling to Tranås for our Young Writers Lab weekend, Mel Perry from Wales, Elisabeth Westlund from Sweden and me, Joke Guns, from Belgium but living in Sweden. Three completely different writers, three languages, three times a lot of love for the written word and encouraging young people to find their voice in writing.

It's great to hear Ullias Berglund reading his poem "The Ghosts of Old Shops" . This piece was inspired by a line from a poem by Rhodri Rutherford who lives in Wales. Ullias has taken the line, created a poem in Swedish and English and here he is reading at Smålit in Jönköping 3rd February 2018.
